Honey is a popular ingredient in skin and hair care products because of its many benefits.

It is a naturally high-sugar, low-water ingredient, which makes it resistant to contamination by microorganisms. The bees add an enzyme during the production of honey, the “glucose oxidase”. This enzyme transforms part of the glucose into hydrogen peroxide, responsible for its antimicrobial properties.

In addition, honey has keratolytic properties, which aim to soften the cornea layer of the epidermis to promote its desquamation and improve its radiance.

It is also considered a soothing agent to calm reactive skin and regulate the skin’s pH.
